The Loopler Ghost Build: Extra Cars

Stack duration, plant ghost gates, and let a swarm stampede every slot the live car would have hit once.

Ghost Build

A Loopler ghost build is not a paint job. Ghosts are extra cars on the figure-eight. Each one hits gates. Each hit is another boost, another on-pass tick, another fuel slurp, depending on what you planted. The live car is still looping on its own. You are manufacturing traffic. When the bottom kit tile reads a fat Ghost number, you are in this engine. When it reads +500 Score and +2 Ghost, you are in a mixed mess. Commit.

The embedded Sifd video is the fantasy: the whole track filled with ghosts. Demo-era counts, spawn rules, and duration numbers may differ in Steam 1.0. The lesson that transferred is density. One ghost is a curiosity. A swarm is a second copy of your gate combo running in parallel. That is how ghosts outrun a doubling goal without pretending to be a speed build or a score build.

Duration, spawn, and gate order

Ghosts have a lifetime. Duration is the resource that turns a spawn into a lap. A ghost that dies before the second gate is a gold sink. Cards and charms that extend duration are the engine, not a side grade. Spawn-on-start, spawn-on-loop, and spawn-on-gate are different taps on the same barrel. You want at least one reliable spawn and at least one duration extender before you spend the rest of the pit on vanity.

Gate order for this line:

  1. Ghost gates in slots the swarm will actually cross. A ghost gate that the extras never reach is a wall ornament. Count the figure-eight. Inspect Track exists so you can see the slots before you buy.
  2. Boost early if the swarm is slow to form. Extra cars that crawl still hit, but they hit late. A single boost gate at the front of the combo helps the live car and the copies. Do not turn the run into a speed page; one boost slot is support.
  3. On-pass score or gold only after density exists. A score gate with one car is a score build that forgot its name. A score gate with a swarm is a multiplier of traffic. Gold gates fund the next duration charm. Fuel/refuel keeps the live car alive so the spawns keep happening.
  4. Lucky and chain as finishers. Lucky gates double on upgrade; they are excellent when many bodies pass them. Chain is a combo capstone. Neither is a spawn plan.

Archetypes are ranked on the gate tier list. Tracks change how many slots you get and how mean the geometry is; Crown in particular is “fit for a monarch” and not a beginner ghost canvas. See the tracks page.

Cards: prefer on-loop and on-pass families that mention ghosts, duration, or extra hits. Loopler (score total loops multiplied when looping) does not spawn cars. Lucky Strike (10% on loop to buff a random gate) is fine once ghost gates exist, because a buffed ghost gate is more swarm. Golden Drift is gold support and nothing else. Skip packs that only offer raw score with no ghost verb. Skip can cost 100. Pay it rather than “maybe the swarm will make this score card good.” Rankings: card tier list.

Charms that stack matter more here than on other lines, because density is already a stack. “Gates 10% chance to trigger twice” is a ghost charm in disguise: twice the hits from twice the bodies. Coupon is multiplicative. Skull (+10% goal) makes the bar ruder while you wait for duration to come online — usually a skip. Pacifier (−10% goal) buys time for the swarm to form. Demo sold Skull, Pacifier, and Trade Requisition as daily/weekly exclusives; 1.0 may keep that idea on Challenges. Sick Drift is a named demo-era charm; take it only if drift is actually feeding your kit. Full list thinking: charm tier list.

Why ghosts beat a double — and how they die

When the goal doubles, a single car needs each loop to be worth twice as much. A swarm needs each loop to be hit twice as often. That is an easier sentence if duration is healthy. It is an impossible sentence if you spent the middle rounds on a boost-plus-score museum and only bought one ghost gate “to try it.” Demo feedback said boost-plus-refuel dominated. Ghosts were the other video-friendly break. 1.0 reworked gold income and that OP line; ghosts still work because extra hits are extra hits.

Fail states do not change. Empty fuel kills the live car, which usually kills the spawn engine. Broken durability kills the run even if ghosts are still circling. Overdrive is a last sprint, not a ghost plan. Keep a fuel or repair thought in the kit tiles. The HUD’s Ghost chip should be the loudest of the four (Ghost / Fuel-Refuel / Upgrade / Score). If Score is louder, you drafted the wrong pack. Glossary: How to Play.

Garage knobs: Drift Grip if ghosts care about staying on the ribbon, Durability so the live car outlasts the swarm setup, Fuel Tank and Fuel Efficiency so spawns do not stop. Boost Cap is optional support. Frozen Threshold matters on ice-cube parts and layouts, not as your first roll. A Leaky Pump that rolls duration-adjacent luck or fuel consumption is a ghost part even with no base benefit. Loadout should enable ghost gates and spawn cards and disable the score-only bait. See Loadout and meta.

Cars: identities that give extra durability (blue-style) make the setup window safer. Gold-on-round-complete (yellow-style, gold equal to durability/10) funds duration charms. Neither identity spawns ghosts by itself. Rankings: car tier list.

Pit-stop discipline is the unglamorous half of the Sifd clip. Buy the spawn, buy the duration, buy the ghost gate, leave. Reroll around 5 gold is cheap until Trade Requisition multiplies it. Do not reroll for a rare score card. Node-map events such as Oil Leak punish refuel efficiency; if your swarm still needs the live car to stay fueled, skip that node. Routing context: walkthrough.

A finished ghost board looks crowded on purpose. The live car is a conductor. The copies are the orchestra. When the kit tile is a fat Ghost number and the bar dumps because twenty bodies kissed the same lucky gate, you are ready to keep going in How to Go Infinite. Do not add a speed museum on the way.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What do ghosts actually do?

They are extra cars. Extra cars hit gates. Duration keeps them on the track long enough to matter. Gate archetypes are on the gate tier list.

Should a ghost build still buy boost gates?

One boost slot as support is fine. A full speed build is a different engine. If Boost is louder than Ghost on the kit tiles, you drifted off plan.

Why did my swarm do nothing?

Duration expired before the second gate, or you planted ghost gates off the line the copies actually drive. Use Inspect Track from How to Play.

Is the Sifd ghost video a 1.0 route?

It is demo-era. Spawn counts and duration may differ. Copy the density habit, then trust current tooltips and the launch notes.
